Medical Records Specialist is responsible for managing and organizing patient health information data. They ensure the accuracy, accessibility, and security of medical records in both paper and electronic formats. Key duties include reviewing patient records for completeness, coding clinical data using standardized classification systems, and maintaining databases for healthcare facilities. They also play a crucial role in protecting patient privacy and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards. This role is vital in supporting the efficiency and quality of healthcare delivery. As part of this role, Medical Records Specialist will ensure compliance with Ministry of Health regulations, and Council of Health Insurance guidelines

Theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of the following:

1.Appropriately and accurately pulls records for patient care, quality review, and audits in a timely manner.

2.Observe confidentiality and safeguards all patient related information.

3.Responsible for coordinating the release of medical information to insurance companies, lawyers, Government Agencies.

4.Good knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, pharmacology, and treatment modalities

5.Proficiency in medical coding systems such as ICD-10-AM

6.Update patients' electronic health records (EHR)

7.Validate requests and authorizations for the release of medical information

8.Maintain patient confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information at all times

9.Follow all Ministry of Health regulations, and Council of Health Insurance guidelines.

10.Perform other duties as assigned to support Hospital’s Mission, Vision, and Values.

11.Fluent in English language.

Qualifications

Certified Bachelor in Health Information Management or a related field with Professional Experience: Minimum of 4 years of specialized, supervised experience in Medical records in accredited healthcare facilities
