A Phlebotomy Technician, also known as a Phlebotomist, is a specialized healthcare professional trained to draw blood samples from patients and ensure these samples are properly handled and transported to laboratories for analysis. Their role is crucial in the diagnostic process, providing accurate blood samples for various medical tests 

Theoretical, practical, and procedural knowledge of the following:

1.Preparing patients before drawing blood

2.Explaining blood draw procedures to patients and answering any questions about the process

3.Ability to successfully draw blood from patients with minimal or no complications

4.Following all health and safety protocols and procedures to maintain sanitary work areas

5.Gathering medical testing materials, including needles, sample vials, blood storage bags and test tubes

6.Verifying patient information and labeling blood samples properly

7.Accurately updating patient information in the organization's database

8.Helping nervous or frightened patients remain calm during blood draws

9.Working with supervising physicians and following their directions at all times

Qualifications  

Certified Diploma's Degree in Medical Laboratories and Technologies with Professional Experience: Minimum of 2 years of specialized, supervised experience in the Phlebotomy field and in accredited healthcare facilities where the required inputs and tasks to practice the profession in this certain specialty are available.
